Summer Internship at IIT Palakkad

IIT Palakkad, hopes to set up vibrant research programs in Science, Engineering and Technology. As a part of this, IIT Palakkad is starting a summer internship program with the aim of introducing undergraduate and postgraduate students to research with the hope to getting them interested in a career of teaching and research. The program is for six-weeks and it combines hands-on research training with a variety of hardware and software analysis tool. The deadline for applications is the 15-April-2017.


  • Science and Engineering: The programme is open to postgraduate students (including 4th and 5th year students of integrated master’s programs) and those who have completed the undergraduate program this year.

  • Following receipt of the applications, selection will be made on the basis of academic record, aptitude for research, accomplishments and area(s) of research interest.

  • Selected candidates will be informed by 30-April-2017.

Please note the following:

  • Only those who satisfactorily complete the programme will be given the internship certificate.

  • Financial support of Rs. 6000 will be provided to all selected candidates.

Areas of Research

The following are the areas in which the faculty are working:

Chemistry. Biophysical chemistry and molecular dynamics simulations,  Mechanochemistry, Equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics of soft matter, Structure and dynamics of polymers / macromolecules.

Civil Engineering. Structural engineering: Buckling and post buckling of open sections, cold formed steel structural members, reinforced and prestressed concrete.
Geotechnical Engineering: Foundation engineering, strength and deformation behavior of soil.

Computer Science & Engineering. Theoretical Computer Science: Algorithms, Graph Theory, Combinatorics.

Electrical Engineering. Semiconductor device modelling, Computational nano electronics, Microwave Engineering, Microwave Remote Sensing and Power Electronics.

Mechanical Engineering. Thermo-fluid modelling, Fluid dynamics, heat transfer, fluid-solid interaction, biophysical and aero/hydrodynamics.

Mathematics. Functional Analysis and Differential Equations.

Physics. Quantum information theory, Non Equilibrium quantum systems, Physics of soft materials: Theory and simulations, Plasmonic systems: Experiments and Numerical simulations.
